#Alongthewallin80days - Day 44

What better way to enjoy Hadrian's Wall than to walk it while raising money for a good cause. On 26 September 2014 the NSPCC and dedicated fundraisers will trek 26 miles along some of the most beautiful sections of Hadrian's Wall in an attempt to raise thousands for the charity.

The walk is completed over 3 days/2 nights, starting at Lanercost Priory.
The walk begins on day two after day ones general get together and meet.
Trekking through some picturesque villages and then up onto the ridge along which Hadrian's Wall runs the scenery and breathtaking views.
The walkers will stop off the impressive Birdoswald Roman Fort (see Day 8 of the blog for more info) and The Roman Army Museum before walking beside the most visible sections of the wall, which run along spectacular cliff tops and through stunning countryside towards Cawfields Quarry and Haltwhistle.
Day ones trek is approximately 15 miles/ 24 km.
Day two starts with rejoining the wall and continuing to walk east. With great views towards Wark Forest and the barren landscapes of North Northumberland the path takes the walkers along crags and past several lakes all the way to Housesteads Roman Fort (see Day 9 of the blog). From Housesteads the route continues towards the finish at Brocolitia.
